CantonEat
As someone who grew up in Hong Kong, I’d like my daughter to speak Cantonese but resources here were limited. So, I created my own. I took a Udacity course and developed a language app in Java.

Purpose
The app aims to help users learn the Cantonese pronunciation of the foods they want to order. To achieve this, I interviewed 10 people from Hong Kong to determine which foods to include. I then photographed the dishes and researched their Cantonese pinyin pronunciations.
Design
At that time, I opted for a simple interface resembling WhatsApp’s, as the goal was to allow users to quickly look up information. I also added a search function to enable users to find specific food ingredients easily. For the voiceovers, I did the recordings myself.
Outcome
I published the app on Google Play, where it received several five-star reviews from users worldwide. The positive feedback highlighted the app's user-friendly design and practical utility. Users appreciated the straightforward interface and the accuracy of the Cantonese pronunciations. This recognition motivated me to continue developing my coding skill.
